Yan'an University, located in Yan'an, a sacred place of revolution, is the first comprehensive university named by Mao Zedong and founded by the Communist Party of China. Its history can be traced back to 1937 when Shaanxi Northern Public School was founded, and it has a special position in the history of modern higher education in China. It is now a university jointly established by the People's Government of Shaanxi Province and the Ministry of Education, a key university and a high-level construction university of Shaanxi Province.
The School of Economics and Management of Yan’an University is developed on the basis of the former Department of Management. Its predecessor can be traced back to the Department of Finance and Economics of the School of Administration founded by the Communist Party of China in Yan’an in 1940. In 1985, the School established the Department of Management, which is the first management teaching unit in the history of Yan’an University. In 2017, it was approved as Shaanxi MBA educational division.
The college currently has two first-class master's degrees in applied economics and business administration. It has 7 undergraduate majors in economics, finance, public finance, accounting, business administration, human resource management, tourism management, and financial Russian as the special undergraduate program. Business administration is a provincial characteristic specialty, a provincial comprehensive reform pilot project and a provincial first-class specialty construction project.
